Practical guide

Therapy by video on limited data and without a private room

You do not need unlimited internet or a door that closes. This is how we do it, so you can reach the appointment without spending extra or worrying about who can hear.

Before the appointment

Three things you can sort out without spending more

  • Data

Video uses more data than audio. With the camera off or on a phone call, the session costs less. If there is wifi nearby, such as a library's, ask us whether it works for connecting.

    • Camera off

    • Ordinary phone call

    • Wifi from a place you trust

  • The place

If there is no room with a door at home, we can pick a quieter hour, talk with headphones and short answers, or connect with you in a parked car. Do not connect while driving.

    • A quieter hour

    • Headphones

    • A parked car

  • If something fails

Before the appointment you give us a number where we can call you. If the video drops, we call and carry on by phone. If there is no signal, we find another time.

About your privacy

If someone else can hear

You decide how much to say. If someone is close by, you can let us know with a word we agree on, and we move on to things that are fine to say out loud.

  • You choose a signal word at the first appointment

  • The session is not recorded

  • By video we only see people who are in Texas during the session

Questions about video

Are you licensed where I live?

Our therapists are licensed in Texas. By video we see people who are in Texas during the session; if you will be in another state, we cannot see you that day. The licenses are in the footer of this page.

What do I do in a crisis?

Do not wait for us to answer. Call or text 988, any time. In an emergency, call 911. This site is not monitored around the clock.

What is your cancellation policy?

We ask for 24 hours' notice to change or cancel an appointment. If a work shift gets in the way, tell us as soon as you can and we will find another time.

Test a connection before the appointment

Write to us and we will test the connection together before the appointment.
